I have built a
Van's RV 7/A kit plane, with Quick Build wings and standard build all
the rest. This site documents the build process as
required by the FAA. I should add the standard note, which is that this is
not meant as a tool or instructions or methods, etc. on how to build an
airplane, it is not a build manual. It is a website which shows you what
mistakes I've made. And along the way if you get something out of it, I'm
pleased. I've scavenged ideas from a great many builders during this
process and perhaps you can get some here.
Latest Updates:
4/12/10 - I have a new builder number: 41069 - first pics located here: http://www.tondu.com/rv10
4/13/08 - September of last year I began the process of
prepping the plane for paint. Of course I had to go overboard. Had
to fill the rivets on the top of the wings, tail feathers, extend the canopy
side skirts, fair everything that could be faired and a whole host of other
totally unnecessary items. That took some time. Then I had the plane
painted by a local painter. Bad decision. Let's just say that I DO
NOT, lemme repeat in case you glanced over that part, DO NOT use Thomas
Rutherford at KCPM. If you want the gory details I would be more than
happy to tell you why my plane needed to get painted three (yes, that's the
number 3) times. I'm warning you.
While I'm still not totally happy with the paint, it's over
and I'm not doing anything more, so, lets see some pictures. Caution,
these are 1200x800 maximum resolution.
